2012 Simulated Emergency Test
Saturday, October 6, we will participate in a weekend of simulated emergency operations going on across the country. Locally, the Seneca County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) will participate with its own drills, testing, and training. ALL licensed area amateurs are invited and requested to participate. We will have voice and digital activities, local, remote, and facility radio testing, and even start with a Skywarn simulated activation. We plan to roll out and activate our mobile communications trailer, and will operate a couple of on-air nets. One or two of these may be on the air simultaneously. We will have plenty of activities for you to participate in, so plan to be available! As we do many times, we will start with breakfast at Denny’s at 0900, then will initiate a Phone Tree and Repeater callout/activation some time after that. We plan to work our activities around the 1100 County Siren Test as well, and will look for checkins related to that. Other activities will include formal NTS trafic handling, and all amateurs will be requested to handle traffic in some way. We will have more information both here and on the repeater leading up to the SET. For now, keep Saturday open during the day, and brush up on your emergency operations procedures, equipment and supplies!
Best 73 for now!
